LONDON: After confirming that he is in London for the yearly holidays, Pakistan’s former chief justice Saqib Nisar took to social media to criticize the recent barrage of stories suggesting that his absence from Pakistan is connected to the arrest of General (retd) Faiz Hamid, the former head of the country’s top intelligence agency who is facing a court martial for alleged misconduct in a case involving a private housing scheme.
Over the phone, Nisar confirmed his location in London to this reporter. “I’m here to meet my friends and family,” he declared. During the first week of September, I will be traveling to Scotland, Norway, and finally returning to Pakistan. Regretfully, false information about me is being disseminated.I’m praying for the sanity of those who persecute and attack individuals without any justification.
The former CJP denied rumors on social media that he had fled to London and that he would be detained as part of a larger investigation into the arrest of a retired general. According to him, the claims made by certain individuals on social media and in the media are untrue.
