BIRMINGHAM: Mushtaq Mohammad, the former captain and coach of the Pakistan cricket team, says he is incredibly happy to have been inducted into the Pakistan Cricket Board’s Hall of Fame. Mushtaq, who played for Pakistan in 57 tests between 1959 and 1979, amassed 3,643 runs and claimed 79 wickets. He became the youngest cricket player to play test cricket in 1959 when he made his debut against the West Indies at the age of 15 years and 124 days.
In two spells at the time, Mushtaq also captained Pakistan in 19 test matches. Under his direction, Pakistan won two home matches against Australia and drew the series both times, which is unusual for Pakistani cricket. Mushtaq was recognized for his contributions to Pakistani cricket as a player, captain, and coach.
