Christiansen was forced to flee after the disease claimed the life of her aunt, Lucy.
“A lot of people aren’t really familiar with how prominent bowel cancer is and how many lives it takes,” she stated.
She is running to support the Bobby Moore Fund, which was established following the illness-related death of the England captain who won the World Cup in 1966.
The organization was founded soon after Moore passed away in 1993 and has now raised over £30 million for bowel cancer research.
Christiansen said, “I lost my auntie to bowel cancer 18 months ago,” to Sport. “We were very, very near, and it was hardest.
