Austin Maddox, a former Boston Red Sox pitcher, was arrested in Florida on Monday in connection with an underage sex sting.
Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said Maddox was one of 27 people detained as part of a multi-agency operation.
According to officials, Maddox and the others arrested are suspected of soliciting sex from people they believe to be children via the internet.
Maddox, 33, will to fight the claims, according to his defense attorney, James Hill. He will submit a not guilty plea if official accusations are brought against him.
Maddox is facing four felony charges, including travel to meet after using a computer to recruit a kid.
