The Greece-playing defender, who was born in Buckinghamshire, was discovered in his swimming pool at his residence in the Glyfada neighborhood of southern Athens on Wednesday, according to police sources who spoke to the news agency.
His death’s cause is still a mystery.
Baldock joined from MK Dons in 2017 and played for Sheffield United for seven years.
When he joined Greek team Panathinaikos earlier this year, he had made over 200 appearances for the team.
Sheffield United expressed on X that it was “shocked and extremely saddened” to hear of his passing.
During his tenure at Bramall Lane, he was reportedly “extremely popular with supporters, staff, and teammates.”
On Wednesday night, Panathinaikos and the Greece national team changed the color of their social media profile images to black.
The full-back played in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Olympiacos despite not being included in the Greece team for their match against England on Thursday.
