France’s interior minister declared on Thursday that a huge banner that read “Free Palestine,” raised by Paris Saint-Germain fans during a Champions League game, had no place in a football stadium.
Prior to PSG’s loss to Spanish team Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, the enormous banner covered a whole portion of the stadium at their home stadium, Parc des Princes in Paris.
The banner featured the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, a little boy draped in a Lebanese flag, a bloodstained Palestinian flag, a guy gesturing with a keffiyeh scarf covering all of his face but his eyes, and the words “Free Palestine.”
It was demonstrated as Israel intensifies military operations against the extremist organizations Hezbollah and Hamas in Gaza.
