KARACHI: Data from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) indicated a more than 50% increase in monsoon rains compared to the typical downpour from July to September, which is not surprising given that Pakistan is still one of the world’s most affected countries by climate change.
The Met Office reports that from July 1 to September 30, the nation received 212.1 millimeters of rain, which is 51% more than the average amount of rain that falls at this time of year, which is 140.9 millimeters.
The disclosure was made in light of the numerous small- and large-scale floods that the nation has experienced recently as a result of intense rainfall in many parts of the nation. These floods may be linked to the effects of the global climate change threat that Pakistan and other countries in the global south are facing.
