YALOVA: In Turkey’s Yalova region, Hakan Kilic and his family commemorate his mother-in-law’s birthday each year alongside an image of her created from her cremated ashes.
After learning that Katalin Kollar, the mother-in-law, had been cremated, Serap Lokmaci, who sometimes draws in sand, contacted the family with the notion of using her ashes to create a portrait of her.
The family, who was Hungarian and had been cremated in Hungary, expressed interest in getting a portrait of Kollar, according to Kilic.
