According to a letter from the Supreme Court registrar, the full court reference honoring retiring Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa is set for October 25.
Registrar Jazeela Aslam sent the letter, which was addressed to Supreme Court Bar Association President Shahzad Shaukat.
After CJP Isa retires, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is anticipated to succeed him. There have been rumors since August that the administration would decide to extend CJP Isa’s tenure.
CJP Isa made it clear last month that he had turned down a request to extend his term in light of proposed amendments to the age restriction.
Any attempts to prolong the current CJP’s term have been met with hostility, with PTI founder Imran Khan threatening nationwide protests in the event that such a move is made.
