Jarlath Burns, the president of the GAA, has been accused by Rory Gallagher of attempting to ruin his career by interfering with his possible appointment to the Naas GAA.
Mr. Gallagher called Mr. Burns’ actions “unprecedented” and “misguided” in a statement to News NI, threatening legal action if the comments were not taken down.
After information about the appointment became public over the weekend, the former Derry County football manager’s offer of a coaching position with Naas was rescinded.
It was eventually discovered that Mr. Burns had voiced his concerns about the prospective appointment to the club.
A few weeks prior to Derry’s appearance in the Ulster Senior Football Final in 2023, Mr. Gallagher resigned as manager.
