Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa warned incumbents on Monday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would return to the streets if the senior-most judge is not named Chief Justice.
Gandapur attacked the present administration in the KP Assembly, calling it “self-appointed” and charging that it is weakening the judiciary.
He questioned how the general population could get justice in a setting where the court is thought to be too weak.
“The establishments meant to safeguard the public are being controlled to benefit a small group of individuals,” he said, highlighting the belief that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has transformed into a mechanism for retaliatory politics instead of promoting accountability.
