After attempting to smuggle cocaine worth over £200 million on the black market in a shipment of bananas from Colombia, a gang was imprisoned.
The shipment was stopped in Portsmouth Port in February 2021 and is thought to be one of the largest narcotics seizures in UK history.
To transport dummy crates to a facility in north London, undercover agents pretended to be truck drivers.
After a trial at the Old Bailey, Erik Muci and Olsi Ebeja were convicted guilty of their role in smuggling, while Bruno Kuci, Petko Zhutev, and Ghergii Diko entered guilty pleas.
Agro Food Ltd., which had been involved in fresh product trading for five years prior to a change of ownership in December 2020 and the appointment of Zhutev as director, imported the bananas.
