The varsity administration at Government College University Lahore announced a “dress code” that prohibits jeans and T-shirts on campus, so students would no longer be free to pick what to wear.
In line with the university’s announcement, male students must henceforth wear dress shirts and pants, while female students are only permitted to wear cotton dresses and are advised to “observe simplicity”.
According to the GCU website, students enrolling in undergraduate and graduate programs, both male and female, are subject to the dress code.
According to The News, the notice requires all students, male and female, to abide by the new rules, which are implemented as a part of a larger initiative to maintain decorum and foster discipline inside the institution.
