The 40-year-old man passed away at the scene in Shoeburyness, Essex, on March 27, after suffering severe injuries to his head and thorax, according to testimony given during the Chelmsford court.
The inquest began on Monday and was put on hold at Essex Police’s request while a criminal investigation was being conducted.
Lincoln Brookes, senior coroner for Essex, approved the request and stated that the case would be examined in four months.
Gilbey gained notoriety for his appearances on the show with his stepfather Pete McGarry and mother Linda McGarry, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 71.
In relation to the event, a man in his 40s from the Witham neighborhood of Essex was previously taken into custody on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
