This is an early final between the two strongest teams in the competition, as has been discussed a lot in Germany, and based on what I’ve observed, I would agree.
There is a sincere conviction that we can defeat them as well. Our fans have a great deal of respect for this Spanish team, and even the German players acknowledge their superiority; nevertheless, this is counterbalanced by the fact that we are the hosts and by our own recent successes.
It seems like a very level competition in terms of mindset and caliber.
It will be interesting to watch how the tie is resolved because I don’t think either side will fear the other.
Germany is not a team that plays like Georgia or any of the other teams that Spain has already played; they had only about 30–40% of the ball and were primarily defending in their own half in an attempt to attack them on the counter.
We will need to do more than just play solid defense if we hope to prevail. We must demonstrate our quality when in possession of the ball and resist the urge to give it away cheaply, as that is precisely what Spain wants.
We would prefer it if they had less of the ball since it is what they desire.
