The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) chairman, Gavin Stephens, expressed optimism that the “experimental” technology will aid in stopping the cars used in crimes, including carjackings and cell phone thefts.

In order to trick the electric motor into believing it is overheating, it fires an electromagnetic pulse at any nearby e-bikes or e-scooters.
The car then comes to a stop when the motor, which has a built-in safety feature, cuts out.
