Today marked the start of the formal trial for the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. At a hearing conducted at Adiala Jail, the prosecution presented evidence and eyewitness accounts. Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), attended the event.
Four Rawalpindi police eyewitnesses, ASI Saqib, Constables Shakil, Sajjad, and Yasir, testified during the hearing, which was presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah. The witnesses produced important evidence that had been taken from the accused, such as cell phones, gasoline bombs, pieces of statuary that had been destroyed during the attack, and a helmet purportedly taken from anti-riot authorities.
PTI caps, sticks, cables, matches, and flags were among the other pieces of evidence that were displayed. According to reports, one cell phone was found during the actual court sessions.
