In response to a media story that suggested Jason Gillespie should be fired as red-ball coach, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made it clear on Sunday that the 49-year-old former Australian cricketer is still in his role and will carry on with his responsibilities.
Gillespie, who is currently serving as interim white-ball head coach, will be the red-ball coach for the forthcoming two-match Test series against South Africa, according to a PCB official.
The board has flatly rejected a story from a cricket website that said Gillespie was supposed to be stripped of his responsibilities as Pakistan’s head coach and that Aqib Javed would take his position in all formats.
