In 2024, 7% fewer of the devices were shipped than the previous year, according to market research firm Counterpoint.
According to Counterpoint, Apple Watch shipments decreased by 19% over that time.
It attributes the decline to the absence of new features in Apple’s most recent devices as well as the non-existence of a high-end Ultra 3 model that was rumored.
According to Anshika Jain, senior research analyst at Counterpoint, “North America was the biggest driver of the decline, where consumers held back purchases due to the Ultra 3’s absence and the S10 lineup’s minimal feature upgrades.”
Due to a contested patent pertaining to blood oxygen level monitoring, Apple was also subject to import and sales prohibitions in the US in late 2023 and early 2024.
