Archaeologists in Egypt have found 13 ancient mummies with gold tongues and nails at a cemetery at the site of Oxyrhynchus.
The team discovered a hall with three chambers that contained dozens of mummies after they excavated to the bottom of a burial shaft.
A dynasty descended from one of Alexander the Great’s generals ruled Egypt during the Ptolemaic period (c. 304 to 30 BC), according to two statements issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
It’s important to remember that 16 gold tongues were previously discovered by researchers in Oxyrhynchus.
It’s interesting to note that the ancient Egyptians intended to assist the dead speak by implanting gold tongues in mummies.
