The IT firm claims to have sold over 100 million of these gadgets globally, spanning multiple generations, with the “second generation” model being particularly affected by the problems.
In addition to Chromecast Audio devices, owners of these Chromecasts have been unable to connect them to their televisions, which prevents them from using streaming services like Netflix and YouTube on a large screen.
Additionally, in a post on the Google Nest support site, the company cautioned customers against attempting to resolve the issue on their own by performing a factory reset on impacted devices.
“Do not factory reset your device; we will keep you all updated when the fix rolls out,” it states.
“If you have already factory reset your device, we will provide instructions.”
