Reactions from the public to the government’s notification of a large rise in driving license prices, which goes into effect tomorrow, have been varied.
The statement states that the cost of learner licenses has increased significantly from Rs. 300 to Rs. 1,000. The cost of a full driving license will now go to Rs 3,000 for individuals. The good news for drivers of public service vehicles (PSVs) is that the license price has been lowered to Rs10,000.
The cost of motorcycle permits has also increased significantly, to Rs10,000, which may annoy motorcyclists. For each kind of license, applicants will also need to pay a digitalization charge of Rs 2,000.
