KARACHI: Due to nonpayment of outstanding bills, over thirty-six government agencies in Sindh would no longer have access to energy, as per the decision made by K-Electric (KE), the city’s exclusive power distributor.
The chief secretary and the secretary of energy have received a letter from the corporation. The notification in the letter states that 64 departments in Sindh will lose power.
The Power Distribution Corporation emphasized that despite the writing of eight letters, the promised payment of dues has not been made. It added, therefore, that the decision has been made to turn off the electricity.
The letter stated that the Sindh government had promised to pay all outstanding debts and any additional liabilities in 2019.
In addition, the energy department was tasked with handling the payment of electricity bills and other fees.
A list of the 64 provincial departments and institutes mentioned in the letter is also included by K-Electric.
The business also stated that they have begun the process of cutting the provincial departments’ electricity connections.
