LONDON — Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in the National Assembly and the son of former prime minister and Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has said that he and his family are traveling privately in London, covering all of their own costs and not requiring any money from Pakistani taxpayers.
Members of the National Assembly (MNA) for the PPP from NA-148 (Multan-I) told News that they have been the target of false information claiming that Yousaf chose to send his two MNA sons, Ali Qasim and Abdul Qadir Gilani, as well as his daughter Fiza Batool Gilani, to London at government expense. The Gilani family has achieved great success; Yousaf is currently a PPP senator, his three sons are MNAs, and his fourth son, Ali Haider Gilani, is an MPA.
Ali regretted that false and unconfirmed news stories had singled out his family from the media.
“My in-laws live in London, and my wife is a British national,” he stated. Whether in administration or opposition, I studied here ten years ago and have been visiting London annually for more than fifteen years. We have decades of experience traveling abroad. We have never paid for our personal travel with public funds.”
If it turns out that he is taking government-funded vacations in London, he has threatened to resign. “I’m going to give up my seat.
