In order to stop official information and papers from being disclosed, the Establishment Division has prohibited government workers from using social media without authorization.
The government has required staff to follow the Government Servants (Conduct) Rules, 1964, according to an office memo released on Tuesday.
A government employee will not be permitted to use any social media platform without authorization, says the memorandum.
The letter stated that “employees of the government cannot express opinions or facts that affect the reputation of the government.” It further stated that employees are not permitted to criticize decisions made by the government, policies, national sovereignty, or dignity.
It further stated that public employees will face severe consequences should they violate the guidelines and that they are not permitted to share their thoughts or opinions on social media.
