“Several of the individuals recommended for the positions had corruption allegations against them, so I rejected the summary for the appointment of vice-chancellors. The governor, who also serves as chancellor of the institutions, told the media here on Thursday that “fingers are being raised on the process for the appointments (of VCs)” even as he rejected the summary.
Rejecting the assertion ascribed to Ms. Sharif, he stated under oath that he had no discussions with the chief minister over the appointment of a vice chancellor (VC) and that his only desire was for the appointments to be based solely on merit.
“I don’t personally disagree with the postings. In order to help the youth become a single nation, I believe that only those people should be named as VCs.”
