Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), wrote a letter to Gen. Asim Munir, the Chief of the Army Staff, which the government described as a “drama and a storm in a tea cup.” The previous ruling party said the message was a “open letter” that was shared via social media and journalists.
“It’s nothing but a drama and a storm in a tea cup,” stated Barrister Aqeel Malik, the government’s legal affairs spokeswoman, during an appearance on the news program.
Imran, who is now detained in Adiala jail, wrote a six-point letter to the army chief requesting a review of policies and outlining the causes for what he saw as the “gap between the public and the Army,” according to confirmation from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and attorney Faisal Chaudhry a day earlier.
