A government wing would be established to identify, examine, look into, combat, and stop fraud and tax evasion.
The Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb introduced a revised Finance Bill to the National Assembly on Friday, naming it the Tax Fraud Investigation Wing Inland Revenue.
Despite the opposition’s reservations, the lower chamber of Parliament adopted the tax-heavy budget.
“Fraud Intelligence and Analysis Unit, Fraud Investigation Unit, Legal Unit, Accountants Unit, Digital Forensic and Scene of Crime Unit, Administrative Unit, or any other Unit as may be approved by the Board or the Federal Government” is what would make up this wing.
It will be composed of a chief investigator and as many other officers as the board may choose.
