In an effort to motivate students and increase the promotion rate, the government has increased the passing and grace marks for matric and intermediate students for all boards nationwide under the new grading model.
At a meeting held on Wednesday at the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) with representatives from all educational boards, the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC) made a definitive resolution to this effect.
Each subject’s passing score will be increased from 33 to 40, and the grace score, which was previously only three, is now five. The modifications will take effect for the 2025 exams.
Students who previously received 30 points in a topic were given three grace marks to pass, according to IBCC officials.
