Shortly after winning three trophies at the 66th Annual Grammy trophies, American rapper Killer Mike was taken into custody for allegedly getting into a physical brawl.
After a physical incident backstage at the 2024 Grammy Awards, the rapper was taken into custody and charged with “misdemeanor battery.”
The Hollywood Reporter was able to obtain footage of Mike being carried away in handcuffs by the Los Angeles Police at the Crypto Arena.
He had won three straight awards just before the incident: best rap album for Michael, best rap song and best rap performance for Scientists and Engineers, which featured Andre 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane.
“On Sunday, 4 February, just after 4pm, a male adult was detained and handcuffed for a physical altercation that occurred at the 700 block of Chick Hearn Court,” an LAPD spokeswoman said in a statement.
After being taken into custody, the subject was brought to the LAPD Central Division. The suspect, 48-year-old Michael Render, has been identified and is being released from custody after being charged with misdemeanor battery (PC 243(A)).
