Reuters reports that Greek authorities intend to levy a charge on cruise ship passengers during the busiest summer months.
The fee for travelers taking a cruise to Santorini or Mykonos would be twenty euros ($22).
Rome may charge admission to a historic landmark as part of a recent effort to combat overtourism.
The Bank of Greece reports that over 11 million tourists visited Greece between January and June, generating around $7 million in travel receipts.
“The effects of overtourism are potentially severe and both natural and cultural heritage sites are at risk of losing their appeal as desirable,” the European Parliament declared.
