The American leader of the Khalistani separatist movement, who was the target of an abortive assassination attempt by India, claimed that New Delhi intelligence agents were still after him and that the Biden administration’s “quiet diplomacy” had not prevented Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government from repressing Sikhs across international borders.
In a Bloomberg interview in his New York office, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun stated, “The risk has increased,” and added, “The Modi regime has not faced any consequences.” No one has held them responsible. Why would they give up?”
The creator of Sikhs for Justice, a group that supports the creation of Khalistan, a Sikh homeland, from the Indian state of Punjab, declared his determination to carry on his campaign for the “independence of Punjab from the Indian occupation”.
