ISLAMABAD: Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail of the Supreme Court stated on Monday that half of the problems with military tribunals would be resolved if the Army Act’s intent were understood.
The statements were made during the hearing of intra-court appeals concerning the trial of civilians in military courts by a seven-member constitutional bench of the Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan and consisting of Justices Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Naeem Afghan, and Musarrat Hilali.
The constitutional bench of the highest court last year gave military courts provisional authorization to render decisions in cases involving 85 suspects who are allegedly connected to the May 9, 2023, riots.
