In the last exchange planned during the six-week-long first phase of the agreement, Hamas turned over the bodies of four Israeli prisoners on February 26.
They were later identified by Israel as Itzik Elgarat, 69, Tsachi Idan, 50, Ohad Yahalomi, 50, and Shlomo Mansour, 86. Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister, declared that the four individuals had been killed.
During the first phase, Hamas has freed about 1,900 Palestinian inmates and detainees in return for 25 living hostages and eight dead hostages.
The second phase of the agreement, which calls for the release of the other 59 hostages and the permanent end of the war, has not yet been discussed.
