Republicans have criticized the vice president for seeming to avoid the media and for allegedly not telling people about her aspirations for the presidency since she rose to the top of the ticket.
The interview presents an opportunity for Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz to practice becoming running mates in front of a larger audience.
Additionally, it fulfills the vice president’s promise to arrange a meeting before the end of the month.
It comes after the two made well-known addresses at the highly anticipated Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which was a sophisticatedly planned and executed party celebration. Following the interview, Ms. Harris will proceed on a bus tour of Georgia, a state that is a major battleground.
It will be one of the few chances for people around the country to learn more specifics about the policy stances of the Harris-Walz campaign before election day, which is just seventy-days away.
