Weinstein, 72, has a number of accusers ready to testify against him, assistant district attorney Nicole Blumberg stated during a court hearing on Thursday.
However, until he is arraigned on the new counts, the specifics of the indictment will not be made public. That might occur as early as September 18.
Outside of court, Weinstein’s attorney Arthur Aidala stated, “We don’t know anything.”
“We don’t know what the exact accusations are, the exact locations are, what the timing is.”
Weinstein had emergency heart surgery to drain fluid from his heart and lungs a few days before to the indictment.
He did not attend the hearing on Thursday since he is in Bellevue Hospital in New York resting.
After his 2020 conviction on counts of rape and sexual assault involving two women was reversed by New York’s highest court in April, Weinstein is now facing a historic retrial.
The commencement date is reportedly set for November 12.
Last Monday, the retrial’s prosecutors announced that they had started providing a grand jury with information regarding up to three further charges against him that date back to the middle of the 2000s.
Whether the new accusations cover any of the additional allegations is unknown, though.
