A video snippet from Dr. Zakir Naik, an Islamic preacher, discussing his experience traveling on a Pakistan International Airlines flight has gone viral on social media, which has infuriated some people.
“I planned to travel to Pakistan.” We had one thousand kilograms of luggage. The CEO of PIA and I spoke. I told the station manager that I had 500–600 kg of excess luggage, and he said he would do whatever for me. He gave me 50% discount. I informed him that because it would get cheaper, I would be bringing four more people. The Islamic preacher replied, “I asked him to give free or leave it,” in response to a question about offering bribes at the Governor House in Karachi. The individual claimed that because it was hard to complete the task, he had to bribe even for lawful work.
Dr. Naik clarified that speaking the truth and refraining from work that calls for bribery. In the reply, he talked about his experience.
“I turned down the offer. When non-Muslims see me in India, they leave me without any charge. Leave 1,000–2,000 kg while visiting Dr. Zakir Naik; this is India. It’s Pakistan here. My visa states that I am a state guest and that I am a guest of the government. I’m getting a 50% discount from your CEO,” he remarked.
