The Hay Festival said on Friday that it had canceled its partnership with Baillie Gifford, an investment management firm, following the withdrawal of notable attendees such as comedian Nish Kumar, singer Charlotte Church, and Labour MP Dawn Butler.
Wales is currently hosting the festival till June 2nd.
Baillie Gifford was encouraged to withdraw from the fossil fuel industry by the group Fossil Free Books, which claimed to have invested between £2.5 billion and £5 billion in the sector.
Additionally, according to the advocacy organization, Bailie Gifford has invested up to £10 billion in businesses that have ties to Israel’s cybersecurity, tech, and defense sectors.
