Lahore and many other Punjabi regions have received much-needed relief thanks to a storm of intense rain on Monday night.
All relevant departments have received an alert from the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), advising them to exercise caution.
The PDMA’s director general, Irfan Ali Kathia, has ordered deputy commissioners across the province to maintain a state of high alert. Kathia stressed the value of readiness in his remarks and urged all pertinent departments to be equipped to handle any unforeseen situations. With constant oversight from the PDMA control room, Punjab’s District Emergency Operation Centers have been launched.
Rescue 1122 and other emergency services have also been told by the DG PDMA to maintain a standby staff and equipment. It is required that water be drained from residential areas immediately.
