Brewing company Heineken plans to invest £39 million on renovating hundreds of locations throughout the UK and restore 62 pubs that were closed recently.
The business claimed that more than 1,000 new jobs would be created by the financial infusion into its Star Pubs franchise.
The Covid epidemic and subsequent pressures on consumer spending due to rising living expenses have severely impacted the UK pub business.
Pub closures have averaged 500 each year between 2021 and 2023, according to the British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA).
Star intends to refurbish about 600 bars, or nearly 25% of the 2,400-strong network, with the selection of sites based on the number of customers who have reduced the frequency of their commutes.
