Two females in a room at Panama City’s opulent Decápolis Hotel hold a piece of paper with a written message to the glass. It says, “Please help us,”
The hotel features a spa, a swimming pool, two fine dining options, private transportation, and accommodations with views of the sea. However, according to the Panamanian administration on Tuesday, it is now a “temporary custody” facility that houses 299 unauthorized migrants who were deported from the US.
To show that they are denied their freedom, some migrants lift their arms and cross them at the wrists. Some people dangle little signs that read things like, “We are not safe in our country.”
The Trump administration has promised to deport millions of those who entered the country illegally.
