LONDON: The International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) Council has confirmed that Hina Jilani, a trailblazing attorney and advocate for democracy, has assumed the role of co-chair.
She will be in office until December 31, 2026.
“It is an honor for me to become the co-chair and to join IBAHRI’s efforts to promote and protect human rights and the rule of law,” said Jilani, the late Asma Jahangir’s sister. I agree with IBAHRI’s mission and acknowledge the vital role this organization is playing in enhancing everyone’s access to justice on a worldwide scale.
Jilani, who was born in Lahore, has devoted her professional life to defending and advancing human rights, especially those of minorities.
