On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership and workers on the Supreme Court’s decision on a verdict given on the reference filed against former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s assassination, describing the quick order as a “positive development.”
“It is not possible to correct the historical mistake, but by admitting the serious mistake, a new history and a new tradition have been established,” the prime minister said in a statement.
“The process of national unity and development can only be accelerated by correcting past mistakes and removing enmities,” he said.
Earlier today, the Supreme Court issued a reserved ruling on the trial, conviction, and execution of late Prime Minister ZAB, noting that he did not get an opportunity for a “fair trial”.
