The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been accused by Federal Minister for Petroleum Dr. Musadik Malik of launching a smear campaign against state institutions. He has also criticized the opposition parties for rejecting the government’s invitations for talks.
Malik extended an invitation to speak with the Imran Khan-founded party on Saturday during a press conference in Islamabad. “Destruction, sit-ins, and confrontational politics” are the topics that the opposition talks about, he claimed, while the government has provided discussion.
The minister went on to say that although the opposition criticizes these actions, the government is moving to end terrorism.
Additionally, he chastised the PTI for waging a “malicious campaign” against state institutions and turning to agitational politics in the absence of solutions to the challenges that face the country. He claimed that PTI’s goal is to destroy the nation and that on May 9, 2023, PTI workers attacked and targeted military installations and monuments honoring the nation’s heroes.
Malik asserted that the PTI founder, who is currently incarcerated, had acknowledged encouraging the violent riots that occurred on May 9 of last year.
In response to the PTI’s criticism of the coalition government, Malik questioned why, despite gaining the majority of seats in the February 8 elections, the opposition party did not establish a government in the center with the backing of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
