Once the richest man in Asia, Hong Kong real estate mogul Lee Shau-kee passed away at the age of 97.
His real estate company Henderson Land Development, of which he served as chairman for over 40 years, made the announcement.
In a statement, the business stated that Lee had passed away “in the company of his family” but did not provide an explanation.
He was among the wealthiest persons in the city. Forbes estimated his net worth to be slightly under $30 billion (£23 billion) in February.
Born in Guangdong Province in southern China, Lee relocated to Hong Kong as a young man and started his commercial career in gold and foreign exchange before moving into real estate.
