According to data made public by NHS England, flu patients occupied an average of around 1,900 beds last week, which was 70% more than the previous week.
Doctors warn that they are having difficulty controlling the virus’s spread within hospitals and that more patients are being hospitalized, making it more than three times greater than it was at this time last year.
RSV, COVID, and the Norovirus, which causes vomiting, are also still causing issues.
“The tidal wave of flu cases and other seasonal viruses hitting hospitals is really concerning for patients and for the NHS – the figures are adding to our ‘quad-demic’ worries,” stated Prof. Sir Stephen Powis, medical director of NHS England.
