House Republicans abandon their pledge to vote on twelve different funding proposals.

News has discovered that House Republican leaders are considering a funding plan that would combine the twelve appropriations measures into two or three packages, abandoning their earlier promise to hold floor votes on each bill separately.

When Republicans took control of the House following the 2022 elections, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., made this pledge, which the House GOP leadership has continued to uphold as late as November.

The right had attacked the last Democratic-led Congress for financing the government with a single, enormous “omnibus” measure, claiming that voting on 12 individual bills would have given rank-and-file members more of a say and resulted in increased federal spending. Huge, you merged it well.
