Federal legislation are created and passed by the US House of Representatives. Together with the US Senate, it is one of the two houses of the US Congress.
According to the US Constitution, the people were to directly elect the House’s members.
According to Section 2 of Article 1 of the constitution of the US, “The US House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.”
The people who live in the congressional district a candidate will represent elect the representatives to a two-year term.
