Florida governor and Republican candidate for president, Ron DeSantis, advised his party to avoid focusing too much on the criminally charged Donald Trump because of the possibility that his legal issues may make it difficult for them to win the presidency in 2024.
The 45-year-old stated, “I think if we’re re-litigating the past elections, if it’s about, you know, Donald Trump, or his legal issues, or criminal trials, or all that stuff, you know, I think it’s going to be a really ‘nasty election’.”
In an interview with CBS News, Ron DeSantis added, “I don’t think that puts Republicans in a good position to win.”
DeSantis addressed the issue of potential violence during his speech in response to the topic of what would happen if either side lost the election. It was not what he had hoped would happen.
