The Prince Harry character on The Crown recently discussed his favorite parts of the Duke’s memoir and the inspiration it gave him for the first season of the television series.
All of this has been shared during The Crown actor’s interview with Variety.
In it, West acknowledged that the memoir had a significant impact on his acting and referred to it as a “total gift.”
“I bought it right away, and I believe it did have a minor impact on how we performed that important scene where he wakes Harry up,” West said.
“Pa didn’t hug me. Under normal circumstances, he was not very good at expressing emotions. But his hand did fall once more on my knee and he said, ‘It’s going to be okay’.”
West has previously discussed the sources of inspiration for Prince Harry’s persona.
Previously, while speaking to EW, the actor said, “I took advantage of the huge research department of The Crown.”
Numerous videos and interviews were sent to me by them. I mean, it’s the thing about him: There’s so much on him, and every single moment of his life has been scrutinized and recorded, so there’s a lot to go on.”
